My Goals for the Rest of 2018 (Read: How in the Crap Is It August Already?)

I feel like this year has just whizzed past us. OK, in all fairness, I was in a wheelchair for four months and wasn’t really able to do much. BUT – I know that many of you are probably feeling the same way, and I think it’s the perfect time to check in on how we’re doing this year, and what goals we need to focus on. I’ve personally never really done that, so I’m kind of excited to see what I can accomplish if I *gasp* actually put my mind to it.  Read more

    My Favorite DIY Body Scrub

As much as I love store bought products (yeah, fine. I might have a bit of a problem *eye roll*), I sometimes find myself going back to the basics. I’ve recently become much more conscious of what I put on my skin, especially on my body, so I’ve been playing around with natural and homemade stuff a lot lately.

This scrub is one of my favorite body products. I’ve been making it since I was in my teens, and it’s always given me super soft, smooth skin. I’ve also given it to people as gifts, even though it’s crazy easy to make. I posted it on my Instagram a while ago, and a lot of you asked for the recipe, so here ya go! Read more

    Me, Myself, and My Depression

Stable. A word that gets repeated quite regularly during my monthly appointments with my psychiatrists. Lots of people think that ‘happiness’ is the opposite of ‘depression’, but they’re wrong. Antidepressants don’t provide any euphoria, or make me feel like a unicorn queen living on a planet of fluffy kittens. They make me stable. They provide enough of a punch to level out my emotions and help me think rationally. Basically, they just help me feel like most people feel every day. I can get out of bed, brush my teeth, wash my face, make myself breakfast and do all of the other mundane daily tasks that many people without a mental illness take for granted. Read more

    And Breathe

The other week, I pulled up some pictures from last summer and had the weirdest feeling come over me. I felt like I was looking at pictures of a totally different person. Not in a bad way, not in a good way, just in a way.

The past few months have been really emotionally challenging for me. And it’s funny because I feel like the last few years have been all about personal exploration, but I’ve been through more in the past five months than I have in the past three years.

That Time I Broke My Ankle

Remember that time I broke my ankle so bad that I had to have a plate and screws put in to put it back together? Yeah, that time.

It was on the 21st of February, 2018. The day started out pretty awesome. I got to hang out with super awesome, super famous skater, Lady Trample, and I got to explore Old Dubai with her, Amanda, and Reem. The weather was great, the sky was blue, and my hair looked awesome. It was a good day. We headed to the skate park later that afternoon, got geared up and did some skating. Read more

    That Time I Wore Jeans

    I don’t wear jeans.

You’re probably thinking ‘what do you mean, you don’t wear jeans?’. But I don’t. Or I didn’t. My legs have always felt too short, too stubby, or too weirdly shaped for jeans. Well, that’s what I thought.

    Loving the Louvre Abu Dhabi

It’s finally here! We first heard whispers of the Louvre Abu Dhabi almost a decade ago, and while we had some idea of what it was going to be, experiencing it IRL was just incredible. The Louvre Abu Dhabi is a collaboration between the government of Abu Dhabi and the Musée du Louvre in Paris, along with sixteen other French museums. Needless to say, for those of us living in the UAE and feeling a little culture-starved, this museum has been a long time coming.
